Terms of Service
Effective date: EFFECTIVE_DATE_TBD · Operated by Jason Roberts
These terms are an agreement between you and Jason Roberts, the individual developer in the United States who makes and runs Forge (“we”, “us”). They cover the Forge Android app, the Forge website, and your Forge account. By creating an account or buying Forge, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Forge.
1. Who can use Forge
You must be at least 18 years old. Forge is built for healthy adults who lift weights. It isn’t meant for children.
2. Your account
- You need an account to use Forge: email and password, or “Continue with Google”. Use a real email address you can reach.
- Keep your password (and your Google account) secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- One account is for one person. Don’t share or resell accounts.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or at /delete-account.
3. Buying Forge: one-time lifetime access
- Forge is paid. You get access with a single one-time purchase of “Forge Lifetime” in the Android app ($29.99 in the US). There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and there are no ads.
- New accounts get a free trial with full access for 7 days, starting when the account is created. The trial is free and does not turn into a purchase by itself; nothing is charged unless you buy Forge Lifetime. When the trial ends, Forge shows only the purchase screen until you buy, but your data is kept and you can still export it or delete your account. One trial per person: a new account with an email address that already had a trial (including a deleted account) does not get another one.
- The price is shown in Google Play before you buy, in your local currency, and may include taxes. Google Play processes the payment. We never see your card or bank details.
- Your purchase unlocks Forge for your Forge account. Once unlocked, you can sign in with that account on other Android devices and in a web browser. A single Google Play purchase can be linked to only one Forge account at a time. “Restore purchase” in the app re-links a purchase made with the same Google account.
- “Lifetime” means for as long as we operate Forge. It does not mean your lifetime or ours. It includes the updates we release, but we may add, change, or remove features over time.
- If we ever decide to shut Forge down, we will tell you at least SHUTDOWN_NOTICE_PERIOD_TBD in advance, in the app or by email, so you can export your data (CSV or JSON). Refunds in that case follow Section 4 and applicable law.
4. Refunds
- Purchases are made through Google Play, so refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policies. You can request one through Google Play (how to request a refund). If Google directs you to the developer, email support@forgesplit.app from the address on your Forge account.
- If a purchase is refunded, charged back, or canceled, access to Forge for that purchase ends.
- Nothing in these terms limits any refund rights you have under the law where you live.
5. Health and safety
Forge gives general training and nutrition estimates. It is not medical advice and is not a medical device. Read the Health & Fitness Disclaimer before you train. You choose what you lift and eat, and you train at your own risk.
6. Your data
The workouts, bodyweight, and nutrition entries you add are yours. You let us store, sync, and process them only to run Forge for you. You can export them at any time (CSV from Progress, JSON backup from Today or Profile) and delete them by deleting your account. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we handle it.
7. Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- try to get around the purchase, the sign-in, or any security or access controls;
- access other people’s accounts or data;
- overload, attack, scrape, or disrupt the service;
- copy, resell, or redistribute Forge, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows; or
- use Forge for anything illegal.
8. Suspension and ending
You can stop using Forge and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, commits fraud, or puts the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
9. Availability
We work to keep Forge running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own backups with the JSON export if your log matters to you.
10. Disclaimers
Forge is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t guarantee any training, strength, body composition, or health result.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, or for injury arising from exercise or diet choices you make. Our total liability for any claim about Forge is limited to the amount you paid for Forge. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of GOVERNING_STATE_TBD, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you live outside the US, you keep any protections that the law where you live says cannot be waived.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Forge after that, the new terms apply.
