Forge is not medical advice.
Forge is a training log for healthy adults. It gives general strength-training and nutrition information and automatic estimates. It is not a medical device, and it doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. It is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, registered dietitian, physical therapist, or other qualified professional.
Before you start
- Talk to your doctor before starting any exercise or nutrition program, especially if you have a heart, blood pressure, joint, or other medical condition, an injury, are pregnant or recently gave birth, take medication, or haven’t exercised in a while.
- If you have or have had an eating disorder, speak with a qualified professional before using calorie or bodyweight targets.
- Forge is for people 18 and older.
What Forge’s numbers are, and aren’t
- Load and rep targets come from a simple progression rule applied to what you logged last time. They don’t know how you feel today, your technique, or your injury history. Lower the weight, or skip the set, whenever a target doesn’t feel right.
- Estimated one-rep maxes (e1RM) are calculated from formulas, not tested. Don’t use them as a reason to attempt a true max.
- Calorie and protein targets are estimates from standard formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor for resting energy, an activity multiplier, your steps, BMI, and your bodyweight trend). Real energy needs vary a lot from person to person. BMI doesn’t account for muscle mass and isn’t a health diagnosis.
- Deloads and phase changes are a general schedule, not a recovery assessment.
Train safely
- Warm up, use good form, and train within your ability.
- Use a spotter, safety bars, or pins for heavy lifts, and check your equipment before you use it.
- Stop right away and get medical help if you feel chest pain, pressure, dizziness, faintness, unusual shortness of breath, or sharp or worsening pain. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Your responsibility
You decide what you lift and what you eat, and you do so at your own risk. Results vary, and we don’t guarantee any strength, muscle, bodyweight, or health outcome. To the fullest extent the law allows, Jason Roberts isn’t responsible for any injury, illness, or loss that results from using Forge or following its suggestions.
